Dance Twirl
Solo dance twirlers use a standard record, which you'll need to have in advance so you can choreograph to it. Solo routines are between two and three minutes long. Solo dance twirl is a good event for intermediate twirlers, but difficult for beginners, especially since they're limited by preselected music.
Aim for a good balance of baton and dance movements. Remember, the music is very important in dance twirl. Every step must enhance and accent the music. Batonwork, footwork, and music must be coordinated.

Dance twirl solo is a combination of dance and baton movements which are correlated to the musical phrases, tempo and rhythm of the current USTA Dance Twirl Record. All dance movements and baton work must be executed with proper technique and appropriate performance qualities for Dance Twirl. The simultaneous blending of body and baton will be demonstrated while displaying a broad range of skills.
Contestants may use one standard baton as used in solo competition.
