PUERTO RICO!! Javi López HOME OF JAVI LOPEZ!!!

Javi López was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico on November 5th, 1970. He bats and throws right handed, weights 200lbs and  is 6'3'' tall.
His full name is Javier  Torres López. His wife's name is Analy and they have a beautiful son nicknamed Javielito.

Javi, to the Braves fortune, was signed as a free agent by Scouts Jorge Posada and Pedro Gonzalez on November 6th, 1987  (one day after his 17th birthday) and made his Major League debut on September 18th, 1992 vs. the Houston Astros.

He batted .305 for class - AAA Richmond in 1993, his second straight .300 - plus season and reached career highs in home runs and RBI's.  Javi was the 1992 Southern League MVP, appeared in the 1992 N.L.C.S and hit his first Major League homer against the Cubs on August 21st, 1993.

Javi has proved over the years to be one of the top catchers in the National League and the Majors in general. He has been praised for his "super-charged bat"  capable of  powering long home runs.

In the 1995 World Series Javi took over the plate and became the first catcher to bat .300 since Joe Torre in 1966 and in the 1996 National Championship Series, after going 4-5 with four runs scored in game 5 and 2-4 with a homer in the last game of the Series, he grabbed MVP honors with a .542 average and an LCS record-tying 13 base hits.

In 1997 he became only the 11th player to smack one out of the field on his first All - Star Game at bat and this year he had the opportunity of participating in the Home Run Derby, going deep five times, beating slugger Mark McGwire and fellow teammate Chipper Jones.

But his bat isn't the only thing smoking in this fellow's arsenal,
his glove ain't too shabby either!!! His defensive skills have improved significantly and are still getting better and better.

~Base Stealers Beware~

This is how pitches look when Javi steps to the plate!!!
