As the year came to an end for the third grade students some suddenly realised they were about to leave school without ever playing Danball. The fact there still was one more exam to go made that many promised to come and play but only a few actually did. This is were Ghosty's reports starts.
The more we play the more fun we have so we gathered at the same place and time to play our weekly game of danball. We did expect a lot of people but most of them had a so called valid reason for not showing up (probably some aren't interested). Good thing was that all the usual players were around. After eating al lot of candy (new rule in Belgian Danball), we made up the teams and actually started playing.

About this new rule of eating candy; later on the evening many players complained
about strange feelings in their stomach. Though it's fun, eating a lot of candy
while playing doesn't seem such a good idea after all. So be careful!
Back to the game. When we started playing there was a lot of wind and it was a little cloudy. We were all equipped with heavier sticks as our previous sticks were not sturdy enough to resist our type of game play and playing with broken (= sharp) sticks is a little too dangerous. From time to time we might play a little spectacular but there still are limits....
We played half a game and all of a sudden it began to rain a little.
As you might know, in Belgium we are used to rainy weather so we kept playing. When it started
to rain a little harder and the weather actually became pretty stormy we were
forced to take shelter in a small cabin in which a nearby shop stores their caddies.
Somehow we managed to finish the game between two periods of rain.
The third grade could leave with their heads up as the HELLI's beat the Heavy BP's 10-6.
At the end of the first game it still was raining and we decided to visit our
nearby supplier of PIZZA. Soaking wet we entered and they had a small problem
reorganising their interior in order to organise some space for us to sit.
We ordered our favourite PIZZA (pepperoni) and a lot of COKE. And yes, we did ask
for the name of the girl who brought the pizza. She looked a little surprised
because she was wearing a nametag (as if we all were blind). We had no trouble
reading the nametag but as tradition (rules) say we have to ask the name FOR THE
FUN OF IT! Incidentally, her name was Iris and she was a little shy.
We ate PIZZA with our fingers causing a lot of people (being polite and eating
with knife and fork) to look at us as if we were from another planet. We also had
a long talk about a trip to the States, about sponsoring and other stuff that
comes along with it. There is a chance you might find us wandering through
America searching for danball-teams to compete with.
In spite of the rain we had a pretty good time and returned home full of joy.
Awaiting our next game, PIZZA's and COKE …
All for danball, danball for FUN!
