The Stories

(Author's note: For the moment, "Pontchartrain Diaries" has been scrapped. The reviews of "Private Dancer", while good, seem to suggest that a lot more can be done with it. So, rather unexpectedly, I've made revising and (mostly) expanding the story my new pet project. I'm having (perhaps misguided) thoughts of even turning the story into a full-fledged *book*, which is surely an interesting idea in and of itself.)

I've always been something of a writer. I've worked for several different newspapers and written many different kinds of stories, so I'd like to think I'd know what the heck I'm doing.

So why *these* stories?

Each story has its own reasons behind it, but basically, it's a way for me to express myself and my feelings. With the spoken word, I'm terrible - especially if I'm trying to describe my emotions. With these stories, I can at least come relatively close to being coherent. :)

As I said on my home page, the stories in question are not for the faint of heart...so, without further ado...

Love At First Byte. This was written back in about March 1995. It was originally written to a friend as something of a confession on just who and what I was all about in terms of relationships. I'm not going to go into too much detail here, except to say that the vast majority of what was written in this story really happened. I must tell you, by the way, that this story is my personal favorite of everything I've written so far, and is generally regarded as the most popular, even though it wasn't quite as cirtically acclaimed as the others. :)

Reunion. This was written in late 1995, about October, if I remember correctly, and it was rated #93 in the Celestial Top 100 of 1995. (Celeste reviews stories posted to the alt.sex.stories newsgroup, and a top 100 rating for a story is generally regarded as a big deal. :) ) It came from a dream that I had after I lost a sweetheart's love, and basically serves as a fictional sequel to "Love At First Byte".

My Weekend With Nancy. This was written in March 1996, and was rated #100 in the Celestial Top 100 of 1996. While it's sorta whimsical, and completely fictional (though most of the people and backgrounds are at least partially based on real things), it's an interesting look at two things...the world of professional wrestling and polyamory - more the latter than the former, I admit, though I know much more about it now than I did then. It's long, but if you have patience, I think you'll enjoy it.

Private Dancer. This is based, extremely loosely, on some real-life experiences I've had in the last few months. I've found that coming up with this has been exceedingly therapeutic, to say the least. It's a look at the world of strip clubs through the eyes of a hopeless romantic. Which I am. :) More than that, though, it's a story about coming back from a heartbreaking romantic setback, and becoming whole again. I think it's now my favorite story, now that I've written it, but because of the general consensus so much more can be made from it, I will likely be expanding the story - perhaps a lot.
