Who We Are:
The Markham
Raiders are a senior mens amateur football club that
competes in the Northern Football Conference.
The team was
formed in 1970 as the North York Cowboys and played in
the Central Ontario Football League. In 1990 the club was
renamed the North York Eagles. The Eagles joined the
Northern Football Conference in 1992. In 1998 the Eagles
moved to Markham and were renamed the Markham Raiders.
The Markham
Raiders were formed to:
- provide
opportunities for outstanding athletes, from the Markham
area, to develop life skills through competition and
teamwork, and,
- field a
highly competitive team which reflects the standard of
excellence associated with the Markham Raiders Football
Club Inc. and the City of Markham.
The Markham
Raiders objectives are to:
- win the
Northern Football Conference championship (Donald Plaunt
Memorial Trophy),
- develop
the best football team in the Great Lakes Region, and,
- develop
all aspects of the team and the program to the highest
level.
