I discovered Runrig during the early summer of 1990, shortly after the Searchlight album had been released. I was holidaying with a friend in the Welsh mountains, and he had brought some tapes to try me with some new groups. When the first words of "News from Heaven" came over the stereo, I found myself listening more and more to the music, and concentrating less and less on our conversation. From that moment on, I have been hooked on the band, getting most of the rest of my family hooked in the process.
With the departure of Donnie Munro, the band have had to recruit a new lead vocalist. This has taken almost a year, but a decision has now been made and the new vocalist is Bruce Guthro. He comes over from Canada to join with the band and by all accounts the recording of the new material is coming along very well indeed. The band is continuing, in whatever form it is now evolving into, and I look and listen with interest to hear the new sound of the band.
