Well, this is me. Not that you care much. And below is a little about some of my closest friends, in no particular order....
I am 20 and doing a proper degree in a proper subject at a proper university. And I am proud to be here. When I am not here, I live in
Penistone, and that is a great place too. I love my computer and I love my subject, so all in all I am having a peach of a good time. By combining my computer with a little of the stuff I have learned about maths, I have found a new hobby, the wonderful world of fractals.
For my sins I follow
Barnsley FC, I wouldn't call myself a supporter, but I do have a shirt and have been to the odd match.
This is Sam. A perfectly amiable young lady from one of the worst cities in the world. I do tend to get the impression that she is the only good thing about that part of the world, like I ask you now, 4 year old shoplifters, and 6 year olds who throw bricks at cars.
Sam is the young lady to whom I spend a lot of time talking, especially when I should be in bed. She bought a CD with me playing the piano though, so she can't be all that bad.
Check out her
home page with pictures of her visit over here, or just mail her here.
This is Tim. We call him Chuckles because he does. If you ask me, the reason for this goes back a long way into his past. But I don't want to insult the man in public, that just wouldn't be cricket. He is doing some fancy computer degree at York, the sort that will be out of date by the time he finishes... He has been my friend on and off for longer than I care to remember. You can mail him here. Or check out his own web page here.
This is Eddie, my friend and colleague here in sunny Durham. Eddie is at Hild Bede and does nothing but complain about the walk up the hill. Being a Penistonian himself, you think he wouldn't mind the odd little walk..
He is doing some computer science and some maths, so he isn't quite as bad a Timmy, He is doing his own fractals and I'm sure they will be far superior to mine...
Check out his home page
here.
This is Tom. He is doing exactly the same course as Eddie and he is from Hild Bede as well. But he doesn't complain, he is just late. This is his home page. As I understand it, he follows Coventry City. No harm in that and I respect the man for following his home team. I know a man (who won't let me put his name or pic on here) who is from Doncaster, and he laughs when you ask him if he follows Doncaster Rovers!
Recently rumours have been circulting that Tom has a secret fantasy about dressing up as Hitler...
This is Mark. The local lad of our group. He is from near Newcastle so I can get away with calling him a geordie, but he lives very close to Allan, who is also from Newcastle, who smacks you if you call his a geordie. (Not really but he does get upset.)
Mark likes big swords. So goes in for The Highlander and the like in a big way. He is also a massive Star Trek buff. He likes to keep us guessing as to the state of his beard. See him for the first time in a few days, will he have a beard, will he not have a beard? That is the question.
Sadly, Mark has moved onto pastures new, but you can checkout his webpage
here.
This is Guy when he was 8, and he is just as imature now. If you think that reading normal English is just too easy, and you want a lot of random spelling mistakes to give you something of a challenge, then just mail him and your problem is solved! He also has a website in a similar vein. Guy's most notable attributes are his ability to get picked on and his refusal to pass a driving test. I think he has failed eight to date. He is a self confessed pyro-maniac, and has the ability to break a computer just by looking at it.
This is MC. He is a very safe driver, honestly. I mean like three wheels on the ground - that's almost all of them. He and Tim claim to play a full game of chess in under 15 minutes, but when I watched them once it took them well over half an hour, and Tim was supposed to be giving me a lift home as well. MC has now had a much overdue haircut.
This here is Allan as mentioned in the paragraph on Mark. He does geography and crosswords (but the crosswords are not at degree standard!) He supports Sunderland, so can be very happy that they are doing so well at the moment. Last year I shared a dingy little flat with Allan, it was great. Allan has the misfortune of being positioned directly beneath MC's bottom.
This is Paul. He is a Yorkshire lad just like us from Penistone, but he is from a little further north and has a worse accent than me. He is doing maths as well, we are in quite a few lessons together, so I see quite a lot of him. He has the perculiar quality that be believes cola to be a "proper drink" and states that beer is awful.
This is Colin demonstrating his most common pose (glass in hand). Colin is doing French and German here in sunny Durham, and is currently on the continent practising his skills. He, like a few of the above is a big Star Trek fan, and would play a mean game of "Trekkie Trivia".
All the people listed here are part of the phenomenon that is:
"Green Death and Plastic Egg Cups"
