There are several types of salamanders, and it´s important
to know the habitat
of the species you have, if it´s semi-aquatic, aquatic or
terrarium and so on. And
if it can live with another types of salamanders and so on.
And if the their housing is secured against escape.
Semi-aquatic
Is an aquarium which is with one dry part and
the another part is with water, see picture below
Strictly aquatic
fFor salamanders who lives in an aquatic
environment. The aquarium is just like an ordinary fish tank
with good filtration
Terrarium
Is a terrarium with rocks, roots and so on
and with a water dish to soak in.
Water Quality and Aeration
The water quality is very important to the salamanders who lives
in an aquarium or semi-aquarium.
The aquarium should be filled with crystal-clear water that is
filtered with at least one filter-systems.
Some people use up to three filter systems one undergravel system,
one outside power filter and
a high-efficiency inside filter. Aeration is also very important,
it prevents pollution and stagnation
and increases the oxygen content of the water. Aeration can be
provided with an air
pump connected to an air-stone. This can come in handy when the
outside temperatures gets higher.
The salamanders prefer temperatures between 60 and 70 degrees F
or 15,6 and 21,1 degrees C
but check the habitat for your amphibia to get the correct temperatures.
