2/3/2003 Why?
I'm glad people don't visit these pages very often, otherwise somebody might actually make a comment about the fact that I still haven't done most of what I want to with this page. Unfortunately (or fortunately with the possible meaning that I have somewhat of a social life), I don't get a lot of time to do anything with this page very often. Part of it is a decided lack of motivation and/or new ideas. Ok, most of it is lack of creativity and ideas. I've fully admitted that I'm not creative (not that it's a big deal, just a very limiting factor for updates). Well, if anyone sees this and has any thoughts, feel free to e-mail me.
9/13/2002 Someday...
Well, I found myself with a long, unplanned, state-funded vacation this summer - not that I'm complaining, mind you. I enjoyed the much-deserved time off greatly, at least when I wasn't bored silly :-). But the vacation ended in about mid-August, and now I'm back at the grind on a daily basis... I still spend a lot of my free time out and about, hanging with friends doing what I can to enjoy myself... I promise that I will make some MAJOR updates to this site when I remember to take some friggin pics...
2/11/2002 Any thoughts? (Anybody out there?)
I've been keeping quite busy lately, but have a small amount of free time on my hands, so if anybody has a few cool ideas for stuff I could put here (programs, pics, msg boards, etc) lemme hear 'em (not that I can promise to actully have it here anytime soon...).
2/18/2001 New Java Applet
Ok, I know I've been pretty slack about updating the site (not that anybody visits here often enough to notice anyhow), but I have decided to try my hand at writing a Java applet (we'll see if/how well it works) and posted it here. I may end up moving it to a different server if it doesn't work on here. One note - obviously you must have Java enabled in your browser for this to work. I've also started working through my collection of pics and hope to have them and some new ones posted soon.
12/1/2000 Even Longer Overdue Update
Unfortunately, the web site has been quite a low priority in the scheme of life most of the last year. Those of you who have been around know how hectic life has been with my internship, compiler, and other more pressing events in life last semester. This semester has been keeping me busy (or at the very least occupied) even with only 6 credits and my work at AK Steel, and now with the added fun of job hunting.
11/12/99 Long Overdue Update
Ok, I know it has been a while since I've updated anything, but I'm sure you all know how busy I've been. If you don't, let me assure you I have had time for work, classes, food, and some sleep. But part of the work will show up here as part of the next update. I've been working quite a bit lately on a web-based "adventure" game. The theme is a basic dungeon search (I know, nothing exciting or creative, but it works). If you aren't into technical talk, skip the rest of this paragraph. The basic requirements for the game were to have a minimum 10 rooms and 5 different cookies to track what the user has done. If you visit it, you'll see what has probably been done. Well, that's it for this update - I'm going to get back to 'work' and try to get some reading done.
9/22/99 More Info
Well, I have begun adding links (in case you haven't noticed the new link to "The Projects") on a special page of its own. I know it looks really bland right now, but I promise to make it more interesting soon.
9/2/99 Another Update
I have also managed to get myself into a couple interesting classes this semester, one of which being a web page programming class, which of course will be experimented with here as much as possible...
Also, I hope to get my server up here now that the schedule has finally been set and get a start on some of these projects in a fairly timely manner (meaning I have to start reading up on them too).
7/14/99 First Update - My Plans
First off, I am reading up on Java and Perl (for those of you who are not so familiar with these terms, they are commonly used programming languages for Web pages and their bells and whistles), and may be trying some web-based apps out here, with plans to program my own guestbook (I personally don't particularly like the one I'm using). I also really hope to get a suggestion/ feedback/ comments form up soon (it will likely be first priority).
Also, I am planning on getting some pics and posting them. As of now, my plans include thumbnailed pics of people mentioned on my Friends page (to be posted there, linked to larger versions of them... hopefully in a handy-dandy separate pop-up window to save having to reload the page on returning). There also is a plan for a separate photos-only page where other pictures will be posted.
Another possible experiment will also involve the possibility of linking to my personal server (the link will be posted as such, as it is somewhat likely to not work at times). For those of you who do not know about my server, it is a Linux machine (which at the current time, needs some servicing before it is operational). Linux is very closely related to Unix (as opposed to the Windows family, which most of us are accustomed to), which is actually what many web servers operate under. As it is a very different beast, so to speak, I will likely be attempting many of these same basic ideas (though in different applications) for my own personal experience. My experiences with Linux have already shown how greatly it differs from Windows, so I feel the need to try some Linux programming as well.
Well, I apologize for the long-windedness about Linux, but I felt I should explain more for those who are interested but not as knowledgeable. If anything else comes up, it will likely be posted here.
