MeMeMeMe!!!

under MAJOR construction

As you could probably tell, I love rainbows. They are the epitome of happiness and calm. Perhaps one of the most beautiful things seen on this earth, although I often wonder if they actually are from this earth. They have a specialness about them that always takes my breath away.

I love to read, and I am currently an English lit major here at Florida State University. I love British lit, and one of my favorite poems is The Lady of Shalott by Alfred Lord Tennyson. (Its painting by John Williams Waterhouse can he found here.) This interest springs from a love of the Kevin Sullivan production of Anne of Green Gables. (Another Anne link is here). This series by L. M. Montgomery is one of my favorites. I'm also a huge fan of John Everett Millais' Ophelia. (Included in this link are other wonderful interpretations.)

My friends tell me that you may want a short biography about myself, so here goes: I was born in 1978 in Jacksonville, FL and attended 13 years of private Catholic School. I graduated in 1996 and left for Tallahassee. That's where I met the people that have changed my life the most. I was scared to go because I didn't know a soul, but life has been pretty good to me. I have tons of friends and a very special boyfriend.

Since I've been here, I've been drawn into a sad fascination with squirrels (hence my name!). I used to hate them, but Rafael has shown me the light, and now I can't help but smile each time I see one nibbling on a nut or a few chasing each other up a tree. Another favorite animal of mine is the elephant. I remember when I was little and my Daddy and I would go to the library and we'd learn everything we possibly could about them. Unfortunately, my mind isn't quite what it used to be:), and I don't remember a whole lot. But whenever I go to the zoo, I'm sure to visit them.

I have a really tough schedule here at school:
8:00 --> business calc
9:05 --> creative writing
10:10 --> French I
11:15 --> critical issues in literary studies

The classes (except for calc) aren't particularly hard, but they take up so much time. Right now I'm in the process of writing a story for my creative writing class, and I'm finding it very challenging because it basically takes place inside the head of a single character. I'm trying to convey her present situation through her memories. I've never done anything like that and I thought I'd give it a try.

Now that that's out of the way, on to more interesting things....
