Back Home....

My family is the coolest. My parents are both civil engineers and I can only wish I could be as smart as they are. They just celebrated their silver wedding anniversary, and I'm so proud. They met in college, but didn't start dating until they both happened to move to Chicago and happened to get a job at the same place. Because my Mom was there first and they went to the same college, she was chosen to show him the ropes at work. What fate!! I guess I have a lot to be thankful for.

I have a younger sister in high school -- she'll be graduating this year. She definitely got the smarts in the family :) She's a great runner on the cross country team. I've tried to run with her a couple times, but my time is a real embarrassment. Watching me attempt to run a mile is definitely a sight to see.

I've just received the not-so-good news that my sister has decided to go to my rival University of Florida! But as long as she's happy :) i just have one requirement -- before she leaves I am going to hold an intervention where we let her know she can be a University of Florida student, but she will NEVER be a GATOR! (Sorry, Cordy! It had to be done!)

I suppose if I'm really gonna include all my immediate family, I should include my 3 cats -- Blackie, Sniffles, and Xena.

We've had Blackie since I was in 3rd grade or so, which would make him abou 13 years old. We found him in the back yard with a friend of his. We kept them both and named them Blackie and Dopey, but Dopey has since passed away.

We got Sniffles after Dopey died because they are similar cats of the same breed. He was the runt when we got him, but he eventually plumped right up -- just like his brother. He's always been sickly, but somehow that makes him all the more special.

I got Xena a year ago when HE was just a newborn. You heard me -- Xena is a BOY cat!! With a pink collar, which makes things worse. I'm sure he'll grow up with a complex! I found him abandoned and hungry in a box outside a mini-mall late at night and I couldn't just leave him. I brought him home and he soon became a member of our family, much to my dad's chagrin!
