Well...it's July of 2006 and here I am again. Back in April 1998 I said that would be the last time I would join WW. Well...I was really successful back then (look at my pics page) but like all good things if you don't take care of them they will not last. I fell off the path of good health but now I am back!!! A lot of this intro is the same it has always been because my philosophy hasn't changed just my approach. I still advocate the use of measurement
charts and other methods besides the scale to track your progress.
There were many times when the scale wasn't budging but I was losing inches.
I have found that the greatest motivator for me is to have a goal to work towards...and I don't mean that final goal of being lifetime and free...but small attainable goals along the way...a certain dress or pounds lost by a certain holiday. I am trying to follow the core plan but when you are doing points, those 1 point foods are a must. You'll find a list of my favorite one-pointers on this site. There are lots more but this should get you started.
Another important piece is the water. I know I begin to sound like a broken record but the weeks when I am really cognizant of getting my water in I always seem to lose weight. I have a 32 oz water bottle on my desk. I fill it up in the morning and won't let myself go to lunch until it's empty. I fill it up again at lunch and won't let myself go home until it's all gone. Any water I drink after I get home is a bonus and because I get all my water in before usually 5:00 pm I am not having to get out of bed in the middle of the night.
I must admit that I have a big problem with exercise. I have really good intentions of getting some in but life always seems to happen to me. I've found that if I have someone to exercise with I do better so I recommend you find an exercise buddy. When one of you feels like falling face first in the door of Dairy Queen the other will be able to pull you back to sanity.
If I could only give one piece of advice (and those who know me know that would kill me!) it would be to not try and do everything at one time. Focus your energy on the one or two things that mean the most to you. My focus changes from week to week. This week it is exercise and water, next week I may focus on portions, and the next it might be journaling. If you try to do everything, you will overwhelm yourself and you won't end of up doing anything (except eating the entire bag of Chips Ahoy!)
Thanks so much for visiting my page and I hope that you find something here that will inspire you to make healthy changes in your life!
Love -- Rene
