Today Senator Tom Daschle again attacked President Bush's popular tax
relief package that was passed with bipartisan support that included 40
Democrat votes in the U.S. Congress. Daschle used the speech to unveil a
Democrat stimulus plan, 93 days after President Bush proposed his economic
security proposal to jump-start the American economy.
Senator Daschle's speech, taken directly from the James Carville political
playbook, is a clear indication that Democrat obstruction of the
President's agenda on economic security, trade promotion authority and
energy, hurt the Democrats in the eyes of the American people.
Daschle recently admitted a bad economy is good for the party out of
power. "The economy always plays a major role" in elections,
Daschle said in a recent interview. "The degree to which the economy
is not doing well, that is the degree to which the party out of power does
better." (James Kuhnhenn, "Daschle Key To Crafting Stimulus Plan
That Both Sides Of The Aisle Will Accept," Knight Ridder, December 4,
2001).
The American people support President Bush and his vision to reenergize
our economy. As a result, Democrats are now playing catch-up, proposing a
'new' stimulus package after three months of blocking the President's plan
in the Senate.
Let Senator Daschle and the obstructionist Democrats know you don't buy
their budget games. Tell Senator Daschle you are one of the 63% of
Americans who approve of the President's economic efforts and urge him to
vote on the bipartisan economic security package proposed by the
President.

Thank you for making calls and letting Senator Daschle know you can see
through his charades. I hope you will pass this message along to everyone
you know who will help.
Sincerely,
Jack Oliver
Deputy Chairman
Republican National Committee
