The Brownsburg Police Department Underwater Search and
Recovery Team ( U.S.R.T. ) is the only SCUBA Team serving
Hendricks County, Indiana. The Team currently consists of
four full-time divers, two alternate divers, and three
tenders.
The U.S.R.T. trains at least once a month in
mission-oriented scenarios, at locations around the
greater-Indianapolis area. These missions include the
following:
1.Rescues
2.Body recoveries
3.Vehicle recoveries
4.Evidence recoveries
On June 18, 1998, three U.S.R.T. team members graduated
from the Marion County Combined Dive Rescue Basic
Underwater Dive School, hosted by the Indianapolis Fire
Department. This 21-day school, given under the sanction of
NAUI ( National Association of Underwater Instructors ),
was also attended by members of the Indianapolis Police
Department, the Indianapolis Fire Department, the City of
Lawrence Fire Department, and the Pike Township Fire
Department, and provided team members the skills necessary
to function as members of the U.S.R.T.
