BROWNSBURG POLICE DEPARTMENT UNDERWATER SEARCH AND RECOVERY TEAM ( U.S.R.T. )

The Brownsburg Police Department Underwater Search and Recovery Team ( U.S.R.T. ) is the only SCUBA Team serving Hendricks County, Indiana. The Team currently consists of four full-time divers, two alternate divers, and three tenders. The U.S.R.T. trains at least once a month in mission-oriented scenarios, at locations around the greater-Indianapolis area. These missions include the following:

1.Rescues
2.Body recoveries
3.Vehicle recoveries
4.Evidence recoveries

On June 18, 1998, three U.S.R.T. team members graduated from the Marion County Combined Dive Rescue Basic Underwater Dive School, hosted by the Indianapolis Fire Department. This 21-day school, given under the sanction of NAUI ( National Association of Underwater Instructors ), was also attended by members of the Indianapolis Police Department, the Indianapolis Fire Department, the City of Lawrence Fire Department, and the Pike Township Fire Department, and provided team members the skills necessary to function as members of the U.S.R.T.
