I really can't remember the
year...probably 1992 or 1993.
I was on my way to work at the Newark Public Schools....it was about 7:00pm on a January
night. As I neared the school, I observed what I thought were Christmas lights on a
rooftop. I remember wondering "Gee...they still have their lights up". But as I
got closer to the school, I realized there were no more houses in that direction.
It dawned on me that they were the lights of our school's TV tower (456')....but as I got
closer to the tower, it became apparant that the tower was on the right, and the lights
were on the left.
I pulled into the short road that leads to the tower and parked...got out, and looked at
the sky.
It was a clear night...the stars were visible. Except in one spot......where the object
was.
It was triangular-shaped...and had a non-blinking red light at each tip. I estimated the
object to be hundreds of yards across each side.
"Holy cow....Holy cow....Holy cow!" That's all I could say.
It looked just like a 'mother ship'.....and made a soft, steady
"zzzzzzssssshhhhh" sound. Not like a jet, not like a prop plane.
The UFO was moving very slowly....much slower than an airplane...and gently banked over
the Newark School and headed towards the AP&L power plant at Newark.
That's it.
Other people saw the object as well. And these other people, like myself, are not kooks.
I called the Air Force at the North Little Rock Air Base the next day, and they said they
had no planes in the area..."...Maybe it was a B-52 from Blytheville", the lady
suggested.
Well, it wasn't a B-52....no C-130....no balloon...and it wasn't swamp gas.
So that is my story.
