Just happened across your website. I've always been curious about prehistoric artifacts, especially of the midwest area. Have travelled to other countries and seen spectacular archeaologic treasures (Macchu Pichu, etc.) Why aren't there more in the U.S.? Certainly there were ancient civilizations in this area?

I was raised in an artifact-collecting home! Dad, now 80, has a fine selection of points and some beautiful flaked and polished axes. About a year ago I started finding stuff in the woods above Kinsale, on the Yeocomico, in Westmoreland County, axes mos ly, pestles, and what I call sewing tools. After the hurricane recently, I discovered an extensive site on the Potomac. In 12 visits I have recovered 800+ items, ranging from flakes and blanks to firestarters, axes, points, and lots of beautiful jasper hunks. Your site is a Godsend, as I am strictly an amateur with no training and have had to put up with a fair amount of guff from family and friends who think I'm cracked. I will stay in touch and try to learn from what you have here. Thanks, Walter
