OUR BACK YARD POND'S

We had an area on the side of our back yard next to our patio. We were never able to get anything to grow there, so we decided to have a small water fall put in. The area was 6 ft. x 20 ft. The following pictures will show you all the steps and materials along with the plants and animals we have chosen to put in this area. We hope you enjoy your visit.

We started out by putting in a brick wall and adding 8 yards of dirt to raise the right side of this picture to about 3 ft. higher than the end where the pond will be so the water will flow down.

This picture is looking from the low end where the pond is sitting. Which shows the 4 falls and the pond.

This is what they call "FLOWING STREAM SMALL ELEMENT" By using these elements and we have 4 of them we were able to recreate a natural flowing stream without a great deal of effort. The individual elements fit togeather to create a charming, natural-looking wild brook with small waterfalls. If installing on a slope, you should allow about 10 inches difference in height per element. On the horizontal, the same height throughout 10 inches should be interfaced. The elements can be combined with each other at any angle you wish. There are no limits to your imagination. There is no need to hide problem areas with gravel or stones because of the natural stone surface of the elements. Just be sure the elements are installed level and balanced, then your steam will flow naturally. The measurements of the streams are 30 inches wide and 42 inches long.

This is the picture of the rock pond. It measures 4 feet x 4 feet and 12 inches deep. It holds about 35 gallons. of water. It is designed to go in or above the ground. The pond and runners are called natural stone.

      WHAT IS NATURAL STONE?

It's a super strong, marine grade fiberglass bonded to a real, crushed rock surface. No paints or dyes is used. Natural Stone rockes weather and age very much like a real rock. These stones are made and shipped to America from Germany.

WE liked the small waterfall so much that we decided to put in a much larger one in the very back of the yard. The following pictures will show step by step of the large waterfall going in.

This picture shows what we started with. An ugly block wall, 5 feet high, and 50 feet long. This is another place where it was hard to get anything to grow because of the block wall, there is a lot of cement and not much dirt.

The hardest part about any job, is where to get started. This picture shows us standing around thinking where to put this large pond. This pond measures 6 feet wide, 9 feet long, 20 inches deep at the deepest end and 12 inches deep at the shallow end. It holds about 125 gallons of water, and is designed to go into the ground.

This picture shows how we are getting everything lined up in the center of the block wall. At this point, we have dug up the ground and added some blocks for the design.

This picture shows we have added some more dirt to install the pond and added more blocks to hold the dirt.

We took out the 2- 4x4 poles and replaced them with metal poles to make the wall stronger. And we added more blocks to the front wall to hold more dirt.

This is a better picture of the over all project. The metal poles are installed every 6 feet to hold the frame of the wall.

Here we added 4x8 sheets of plywood to the frame to attach the walls to.

This shows the wall starting to go up. These sections of walls come in sheets of many different sizes and shapes. They range anywhere from, 5'x5' to 4'x12', etc. This part is like putting a puzzle together. This way you can design the wall the way you want it to look and no 2 walls will look the same.

This shows the center part of the wall with the waterfall sticking out. Also here we have added more dirt and large boulders to give the look of a real mountain area.

This is a side view of the waterfall.
