Well for starters numerology is not a divination tool, it cannot tell you if you are going to bump into your future partner or even if you will have one.
What it will do is guide you and help you understand why you do the things you do. As humans, we are each on a path totally correct for ourselves. We never make mistakes, everything we do has a purpose and a lesson for us through which to grow and evolve.
If we repeat the experience, clearly we did not learn the first time. Without experiencing "mistakes" our lives would be boring and stagnant.
Numerology aids in awakening us to who we are and what our life purpose really is. Understanding the energy of numbers shows us where our strengths and talents lie and also shows how we can overcome our less than desirable attributes.

Within each person is a beautiful light just waiting to shine forth, a magnificent being just aching for expression. This is the real Inner Self, the true individuality that is our essential uniqueness. BUT this is not what we generally present to the world. Instead, we have produced a "personality", a composite expression at the crux of which is our individuality (our inner self).
Connected with varying degrees of influence to the the individuality are aspects of our heredity and our environment.
It is because of unconscious programming that we tend to conform, first to our history (through heredity), then to the expectations of society (through environment)and when these two external factors override individuality, as they frequently do, we find the average person moves through life as a reactive, unfulfilled being.
