Aerdt's Paradise
Keates: A thing of beauty is a joy forever.
The garden "n Aerdts Paradijs"is located on the so called Gueldern Island, which lies in the east of Holland (about 25 km east of Arnhem), where the river Rhine enters the county. The area is shaped by the river that had here up tp the 18th century an upstream delta. Here there are various polders and dikes, which are so typical in the western part of Holland. The garden started 8 years ago as a hobby, and has grown since intoa 1.2 acre park with a large pond, covered and surrounded by flowers. There is a rosarium with more than 2000 roses in 150 varieties. In part of the rosarium there are several avviaries with various species of pheasants and ducks. Memorable are also the approximately 250 types of tubbed plans such as Oleanders, Abutolons, Brugmanias and Fuchsias, but also various semi tropical fruits.
