"Wait, Isaac, before we get to the airport there is something you might want to know about uh, Claire." Jen said. She sat beside Isaac in the passenger seat of his car. They were on their way to the airport along with Taylor to pick up Jen's cousin.
"What? Is she like some kind or weird phsycopathic ax murderer?" Taylor asked from the backseat.
Jen rolled her eyes. "Yeah that's it. No for real, it's not that bad, she just.....she kinda has like an identity crisis."
"Huh?" Isaac asked, confused.
"Her dad died when she was about 13. She hasn't been the same since. Her hair has been every color you can imagine, read, green, purple, brown, black, blond, ect. She has colored contacts to change her eye color when she wants. She sometime's dresses skater-like, or surfer-like, or prep-like, sometimes even in all black, nothing else. She had been into seventies about 3 months ago but Aunt Maria said now she just dresses normal, trendy-like. And she talks in different accents. Sometimes, french, sometimes Australian, even German, and Spanish! Also she changes her name every month or two, it's been Debra, Shae, Maricel, Lauren, Raquel, it was Claire the last time I talked to her. Her real name is Samantha but don't ever call her that or she will freak out. Her dad used to always tell her it was his favorite name in the entire world and that there would only be one real Samantha." Jen grew quiet. "She changed it a week after his funeral. She swore to me that she would never go by it again."
"But why does she change her look and name so much?" Isaac asked.
"I asked her once. She said she didn't want to be Samantha any more. Samantha had a dad, had a normal, happy life. She said she hated Samantha and she hated her dad for leaving her." Jen wiped tears away. "It always makes me cry, even though it was five years ago. My uncle Jack was such a great guy."
Taylor leaned forward and patted her arm. "It's okay."
Jen smiled sadly. "Thanks Taylor. And Isaac, don't like hold this against her. She really is a cool girl. She's really funny and sweet. And she's pretty. Once you get to know her I know you'll love her. She just changes her looks a lot."
"I won't. It's just kinda weird."
"Isn't it weird? Isn't it strange?
Even though I change my hair color
I still look the same.
I'm just trying to find,
Who I really am. My name could be Rachel, or it could be Sam.
Oh isn't it strange, how we all, get a little bit weird, sometimes." Taylor sang.
Jen and Isaac burst out laughing. "Nice song, Tay." Isaac said.
"There she is! Claire!" Jen yelled waving.
A girl walked up. "Jen, honey, haven't you heard? It's Jade now." The girl spoke in a beautiful English accent.
"Oh. The name goes with your hair and eyes good."
"I know! That's why I love it!" Jade's hair was jet black buut in the light it shined with a green tint in it. It complimented her bright green eyes. She was tall and thin. She wore jeans and a short tank top.
"Claire, um, Jade, this is Isaac and Taylor Hanson." She pointed to them.
"Hey." They both said.
"Oh, I know you guys from somewhere. You're those Mmmbop brothers. Bloody good music if you aksed me."
"Um, thanks." Isaac said.
"So, you are the Isaac I have been hearing so much about. Jen talks about you alot. She never told me you were this handsome though."
Isaac blushed. "Hey! Doesn't she talk about me?" Taylor asked.
Jade stared at him."No, I don't believe she's ever said ANYTHING about you, Taylor."
"Nothing?" Taylor asked amazed. He just couldn't believe that someone could actually have a conversation and NOT include his name somewhere in it!
Jade started laughing. "I'm just kidding. You should have seen the look on your face!" They started walking toward the baggage claim. "Either you are really conceited or you and Jen are closer than I thought and she is supposed to have said something. So what is your statis? Haven't you guys hooked up yet? You do know it's inevitable. Like Dawson's Creek in the making."
Jen and Taylor looked at each other. "I don't think so." They said at the same time. Jade flashed Jen a knowing look.
"Okay." She winked. "Whatever you say."
