I thought the cite was very well organized and extremely informative, not to mention well written and exciting. I feel much more knowledgeable after reading this information. Although, at times, it was a little confusing, but, that is due to my relatively small vocabulary when it comes to military engineering.

VERY COMPLETE WORK, WELL DONE !!! Abouth Brialmont : Brialmont did very good work in Antwerp with his polygonal forts and contributed for a part in the concrete fortresses of the first ring. His forts in Antwerp are recognised has one of the reasons that Belgium stayed out of the 1870 conflict. Abouth the second WW : your conclusions are wrong : Ok Eben-Emael fell very quick (by surprise), Aubin-Neufchateau : only after all weapons were destroyed and no more fighting could be done on the 21th (11days of resistance) Battice : the 22th Tancemont : the 29th ONE DAY after the surrender of the whole belgian army. And Barchon : the first fortress to fall in WW one, distinguested itself by resisting till the 21th and killing a lot of Germans and suporting his big brothers of Battice and Aubin-Neufchateau. The biggest problem with the Belgian forts of WW I was that the where constructed in a time that the artillery evoluated very quick and that a little country does not have so much resources as his mighty neighbours. So making a ring of forts in Liege and Antwerp was not easy. To upgrade them every 10 year was impossibly. For the French : in Douaimont is already armored concrete used and another mixture of concrete was used (which proved more resistant than the Belgian mixture (for ex. more cement, less water).

Thanks to your page, I am now full of hope that I will make my history project the best! For our project, we have to have a map of the major countries involved in World War I, you also have to have a map of fortifications, if any, and weapons of World War I and Vietnam. Do you have any ideas on where I can find a map of all the major countries involved in WWI with the routes of troops? This page is so good and I will most definetly add it to my favorites!

I love your site!!!! There's lots of info and many pictures and diagrams. My suggestion is that when there is a picture only put text beside it if it is skinny, because there is only a few words per line on big pictures and it's annoying to read it like that. But besides that, it's great! My site might appeal to you (http://members.tripod.com/~John_C_McLeod/BL.htm) It's about the Belgian Air Force during World War II.
