Serenade

My father, his electric arm hanging
from the window, sang along with Perry
Como & smoked a filtered Kool. Merry
father of the world, no regrets, singing
in a strong tenor about stars getting
my eyes and the moon breaking my very
heart. Within his singing I was wary.

Delighted menace of the world, working
so hard,(much harder than anyone should),
on a holiday with his family.

I had never heard him sing, & became
astonished at the sound of him. He could
sing! & father of the world, holder of the
electric arm, was in the singing tamed.
