Ken and Rhonda Go to Washington, September 1998
One of the most wonderful things about Ken is that he is not afraid to travel.  One morning he and I were talking over breakfast and I mentioned I had never been to Washington, DC.  Well, the next thing I knew we were on a ROAD TRIP heading up there that very day!!  Talk about spontaneous!   Here are the photos from our trip with some links to the "Official" sites as well.
The Library of Congress

This was taken at the Library of Congress.  I happen to LOVE libraries, so this was a big thrill for me.  This was taken in the main Vestibule.
Check out the official Library of Congress Web site.

The Capitol Building

This is such an awesome building.  I think I look pretty natural there.  Hmmm....  Maybe there's a future career there?  I can see it!

Here's a site on the Architecture of the building.
Or you can peek in and see what Congress is up to.

The Washington Monument
It was getting late, so we didn't get to go up into the building.  But I did get to enjoy the view of it from across the Mall.

The Official Site.

The Jefferson Memorial

I think this is my favorite of the Monuments.  You can look straight from Thomas across the horizon to the White House.  This was our last stop and it was dark out by then, but the monument was lighted.  It was absolutely stunning. I know, I look really strange in this picture, but it was a windy night!

Other Interesting Places

Since we only had a few hours, we didn't get to visit all the museums in DC.  Here are some links to check out.

The White House
Lincoln Memorial
Smithsonian Institute
Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum
Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall
United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
National Portrait Gallery
National Gallery of Art
