Cindy Baker is
36 years old. She is a loving mother of two boys, 12 and 16 years
of age. She attended Brockport High School (in upstate New York)
and still lives in the area with her family. She has always been
a hard working woman, taking on two jobs when necessary to support her
family. As much as three years ago, she knew there was something wrong. After many tests and trips to various doctors, she was diagnosed with a rare and life-threatening
disease known as Pulomonary Hypertension and is no longer able to work
at all. This is caused by a congenital heart disease known as Eisenmengers
Syndrome, which, left untreated, results in right-sided heart failure and
death. Now, the only way to save her life is to have a double lung
transplant and heart repair.
Cindy has been evaluated at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and was lucky enough to have been placed on the transplant list. A 24-hour infusion of medication, which is pumped directly into her heart through a catheter, is keeping her stable while she waits.
Unfortunately, the insurance does not cover all of the expenses. There are deductibles, co-payments and the cost of trips to Cleveland before and after the transplant. In addition, there are expenses related to staying in Cleveland during the recovery period. This is why we are reaching out to you-the global community--for help, to ease some of the worries and burden from Cindy and her family.
To contribute, please make your check payable to: NTAF Lung Transplant Fund. In the memo area of your check write, "In Honor of Cynthia Baker" and send to the address below:
