Personal Details
... which combines the Who Is and the Curriculum Vitae pages from my old site into one potted summary. A one-stop reference, as it were.
And if you got to this page because you typed "Sex in Wrexham" in Google ... some NEWI hacker student with a perverted sense of humour put this page on all the search engines.
And no, you won't get any sex in Wrexham. We all go to Chester for that.
Sorry.

Who Am I?
This is me. Alex Greene, BSc (Hons) in Computer Studies. I graduated in 1998, and have been specialising in Web design ever since.
I live in Wrexham, in North Wales. I learn languages for a hobby. I read voraciously, and write like nobody's business. Mainly fiction, but occasionally articles for Web magazines.
I'm working on a voluntary basis for at least one current Web magazine: and here's where I've worked in the past.
I've got friends all over. I live a good life. I'm happy. Admittedly, I could be happier, as well as richer and able to see my girlfriend a lot more frequently than at present - please be patient with me, love - but as it stands, I am happy being who I am, with my friends and family around me.

"How Do You Want Me?"
I have always hated being defined by what I like most: hobbies, pastimes, preferred work. I don't say "I'm an IT graduate," "I work with XYZ," "I'm a Wrexham FC supporter." (Actually, I don't much like footie, but when I do cheer on a team, it's Wrexham first, LFC second and there is no third, because Wales have a crap national team).
Point is, to define yourself by what you do, what you like, what team you support demeans you, because you are much more than the sum of your career, hobbies, likes and dislikes.
At least, that's how I see it. I've had such a wild, complex and often weird life that I couldn't possibly cram it all into a single, labelling phrase. The best way to become a bore is to say everything.
So these days, anyone who asks "And what do you do?" will just get the terse reply "How Do You Want Me?" It saves me so much effort.

Play To My Strengths
I've been often called upon to help people. My greatest strength is my problem - solving skill: I've written code, designed Web solutions, found information unavailable to my clients and generally been relied upon to come up with a technical miracle at the last minute.
On occasion, my clients have come to me with a request for the services I do not advertise. I have helped people come to terms with their life's problems through judicious use of Tarot or the runes, workings, Talismans and, on occasion, deep trance hypnosis.
The Gates of the Temple are always open.

Beyond The Dreams Of Avarice?
I'd like to be rich. I mean really, really, really, Bill - Gates - Is - A - Pauper - By - Comparison rich. But I'd settle for a decent income, say, £20k or more a year salary. It is, after all, what my whole employment career has been geared towards since I graduated. Seems a shame to waste my shiny degree on a career of just schlepping around, going on house calls, doing Tarot card readings, doesn't it?

Ordinary Pursuits
A small kernel of people in positions of influence would like the vast majority of civilised people to believe that your ambitions, beyond work - related ambitions of pay rises, promotions and (for the unemployed) successfully Landing That Job, should only consist of activities within the following group: sex, shopping, fashion, pubs, clubbing, drinking, television, newspapers, pop music, cars, cars, bloody cars. Oh, and sex.
Of those activities, about the only thing I enjoy is sex (when I'm fortunate enough to have my partner with me). I kind of avoid being mainstream otherwise.
My favourite activities otherwise include: Writing; reading; Science Fiction, reading it and writing it; television (making appearances on it, not merely watching it); The British comic 2000AD; learning foreign languages; loving my woman; stick practice in the back yard; Technomancy and Technomagick; Chaos and Discordianism; and most of all, corresponding with friends, loved ones and mates from the Circle of which I'm a member.
There's nothing extraordinary about any of the above: anyone and everyone can do what I do. What matters is the passion I have for these aspects of my life, and the effort I put into them; because when I am sharing a moment of love with my partner, or doing stick practice, or keeping my friends close to me, I am alive.
