Mar 13, 1998 - Hi Steve, I hope that more of your books get published in the US I am in the US and I have your only US book Eyes of The Beast. It was--memorable! Anyway since, Ive bought Black Rock, Wulf, and HooDoo Man, all thru the internet bookshops. I read a review for Black Rock and it mentions that the book is confusing in that you can never tell when you are reading the actual book , or the book in the novel. Also something about S and J being confusing too. I dont know since I have not read it yet! Anthony tanthonycm@earthlink.net Ps. I am still trying to find Angels!
Mar 14, 1998 - Anthony, I have read that same review. BLACK ROCK is one of my favorite reads from Steve. The first few chapters are a bit choppy, but when I asked as to why, I found out that the book was orginally much longer. Once past this you will find BLACK ROCK to be an excellant read. Steve leads you on a path, making you question who and what is really in control of your reality. The book is tightly woven leads you down many fine lines. I know you will enjoy this book, hope you make it out ok
Mar 18, 1998 - Anthony! We're working on cracking an opening in the US right now. Glad you've bought some of my books! Thanks! I've also read the review of Black Rock that claims it's confusing. While it's not the most straightfoward horror novel you'll ever read (it's a novel with a book in it and some of the events bleed from what happens in the *story's book*, out into the reality of the characters) it's not at all difficult to keep tabs on who's who. If you're expecting Laymon, it'll tax you. This is a book about rewriting reality and to some degree questions the nature of and our perceptions of reality. But mostly it's a book about people under pressure, romance and building yourself a perfect world. Sarah-Jane Dresden, our hero, is known to her ex as S'n'J. I'm sure that won't confuse you! The version of her in the *story's book* is called Snowdrop (or Snowy) Dresden. Why that particular reviewer couldn't keep tabs on that, I've no idea! The whereabouts of copies of Angels remains an enigma. I only have one copy now. Rest assured that if any are found to be still in existence, you shall have one! Steve Harris
Mar 19, 1998 - Both ADVENTURELAND and ANGELS are hard to find, although I'm pleased to report that I've tracked down and got both within the last couple of months and now have a complete Steve Harris collection. Found an unread copy of ADVENTURELAND in a charity shop in West London for 50p! All I've got to do now is read them.... BTW, Charlie & Steve - I've not forgotten what Charlie suggested a couple of weeks ago but I've been off line for long periods lately will drop one of you a line shortly. (Charlie - I lost your e-mail address - sorry ! :-)). - Andy F.
Mar 19, 1998 - Where did you find that copy of ANGELS? Damn I am going crazy trying to find that book!!!! Atcually Adventureland is more common than Angels. I found sevral for sale and the American version too. Available thru a book finder. One person had Angels , that was Dark Illusion books in California And he sold it 2 weeks ago!! Shit! I wanted that book. Steve I am on a pilgrimage to find it! I know you guys over in UK have much better chance of finding it than I do here in the US. Anthony email: tanthonycm@earthlink.net I WANT ANGELS!!!! I WANT ANGELS!!!!!!!!! I WANT ANGELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mar 19, 1998 - Andy!! Tis fine, email me and we will chat. sbreeze@sprintmail.com. Anthony, I'm still looking for another copy of Angels. If I find one I shall email you on it, promise!---charlie

Slowing down here ain't it? Come on Harriski, you can say something controversial can't ya? Hmmm... Any sign of Charlie or is she just ignoring me ? Have you been watching Oktober? I'm hoping Mr Wady has recorded it as promised for me... I'm just scared about Mr BallykissAngel in the lead role, still his gf is smart ,) I'm bored, talk to me... SteveSav ;)
May 27, 1998
Glad to hear you've blagged a freebie of Straker's Island, Andy! You'll love it. Or your money back. And a punch in the mouth thrown in free! Sorry I haven't been around much lately, but I've been pretending to write M-515 and that pretending takes up a good deal of my time. I'll be good, I promise! Steve
May 27, 1998
Sorry, Mark C I've got a huge backlog of mail I haven't answered yet (ask Tanjen!) I'll look for your message and reply to it. hugs and kisses! Steve H
May 27, 1998
Steve Savile: Yeah, controversial is good. Problem is, it's been known to backfire on me! I can only make the usual catty comments by e-mail these days! :-) Yeah, I saw Oktober. Nice try and I guess they had to have a "name" for the lead, but I didn't think Mr Ballykissmyasshole was the right guy for the lead. I don't personally rate him at all. More power to Steve Gallagher though: it'll make him plenty, I bet! Recently watched KILLERNET which was the biggest load of bullshit I ever saw. The Plant can't write, is my humble opinion. And the script for INVASION EARTH! (Flo's brother was the Scottish cop who lasted until 10 seconds into the 2nd episode). Did that stink or what? The final episode (barely) saved it. The BBC must have spent a bloody fortune on it. What were they thinking of? They could have at least send the script to me to sort out! :-) Steve H

Jun 14, 1998
Steve, me again... I've lost Wady's addy to pay for CTW, and seeing as I just got myself some freebies of STRAKERS ISLAND and THE DEVIL ON MAY ST, I thought I'd have a Harris World Cup, with the beer and the footie... but while Simon emailed me some stuff he neglected an addy... silly boy... Simon, where are ya?

Oy Steve, that is something weird you have done to your website... is the beard a new feature? I remember you as a sunglasses and costa del sol kinda image from FEAR... Did I ever tell you we were supposed to be in the same issue of FRIGHTNERS??? they were in a warehouse somewhere... never did see it in print... that was my first ever sale as well... one of many that began closing down magazines... Steve Savile
Jul 6, 1998
Steve S. Yes I can mail you about summink. Whether I'll actually *remember* to mail you about it, remains to be seen. My head is full of crocodiles at the moment. Steve H.
Jul 6, 1998
Alan! Either drop Charlene a mail, or mail me directly. I'm sure we can sort out something! Steve H
Jul 6, 1998
Steve S: The website is being revitalised. The beard doesn't now exist. I grow it from time to time then hate it and shave it off again. The sunglassed picture you recall from FEAR is present on one of the other new pages on the site. As are lots of different Harris pics. Have a wander round it - there's stuff on my work in progress, Miami Five Fifteen, posted there. Don't remind me of Frighteners! They went bust owing me over six hundred quid.... Steve Harris
Jul 7, 1998
I got a cheque from the liquidators a couple of years back, for about 35 quid from the 800 they owed me, and another 20 for the 400 Fear owed, my bank manager was not amused at the overdraft he granted on the strength of their invoices... ho hum... Well, I am going to indulge in your dark website, see what uglies I can find... and I'll email details to ya right now. SteveS

Hey Steve H.
I just finished reading your novel The Devil On May Street and wanted to tell you that i thought it was fantastic. Especially the second half of the book, when Johnny goes over to May Street alone. From there on i couldn't put it down. The imagry was awsome (one of my favorite momments was near the end when they were at the park...on the rise and Johnny was sitting in the center of all the dead birds...and hundred of them were circling above!! dark! very dark! that was a cool part!!)
Looking forward to reading Strakers Island!

Hello. My name is Andrej Dolinka, and I live in Becej, a town in the north of Yugoslavia. Beeing a horror & sf reader, I decided to contact you, hoping you could help me. As you may know, Yugoslavia is closed to the rest of the world in means of merchandise, cultural and other links. It makes it very hard to follow the news in any aspect of life, and horror literature is not an exception from this rule. Besides, mail-order is something that we in Yugoslavia can only dream of, for we simply cannot make any payments to anyone outside the country. As you may see, our options are limited to the bottom line, and, sadly, there are no hints that this may ever change. All I can do, whitch is actually pretty hard too, is hope that you understand all of the above and that you're willing to help me by sending me a free copy of a book of yours. I am very sorry for being unable to offer you anything in return, but if you think of something, please, don't hasitate to let me know. Thank you very mutch. Sincierly, Andrej Dolinka Stevana Doronjskog 21 21220 Becej Yugoslavia mailto:dolinka@eunet.yu

I am having the hardest time getting ahold of ANY of the Steve Harris books! I have checked every local book store in the area, but I live in a small town and I haven't had much luck. I'm a librarian and I tried looking them up with our ordering software, but it couldn't find a single title that seemed to be from the right Steve Harris. (There was some other Steven Harris, but it was obviously the wrong guy- I think he wrote juvenile non-fiction stuff.) Anyway, I'm dying to get my hands on one of the novels that I've read about on these pages! Is there anyone out there that could give me some ordering info? Thanks- Candi Dillon e-mail:dillonca@oplin.lib.oh.us

Hiya Steve, Your stuff is pretty involving, as opposed to the authors of detached garbage that still makes it into print. What do I know, I'm only an editor! Do you consider commissions, or are you too expensive for the independent press these days?!! All the best to you, and good luck for the future. Andrew Busby, Editor - Sackcloth & Ashes Magazine

Hi folks! It may have looked as if I'd given up on this, but I've had my head down for the past few months, writing Miami Five Fifteen, which I finished today. I'll try to add some replies to the comments you good folk have made above. Course, you probably won't know which messages I'm answering.... :-) Steve Harris

Hey Steve! Just wanted to tell ya i just finished 'Angels' ...all i can say is WOW! that sure is some read! Yeah, I was rather fond of that one, too. The book I finished today is a kind of sister volume to Angels. It has Paul Dekker's younger brother in it. (yeah, I know he didn't *used* to have a younger brother but he does now!) You should have picked up that hardcover copy of Angels. They're like gold dust now and about as expensive... Hope you enjoyed Straker's Island, which you must have finished by now. Black Rock based on a real house?? Black Rock (the house) is a figment of my imagination, but the location is real. You'll find it right where I've put it in the book. Steve Harris
Oct 30, 1998
Hello Andrej! You shall have your book! Steve Harris
Oct 30, 1998
Andrew! Not, I'm not expensive at all. Unless you're rich, of course, when I'm *very* expensive. Feel free to mail me at writer@hoodoo.demon.co.uk and let me know what you want and when you want it and how much money you have (hehehe!) and I'll see if I can do you a deal. Maybe you could swap your sister for a story or something.... talk to you soon! Steve Harris
Nov 3, 1998
Yer a lovely man, Harris!
If you saw my sister, you may want to reconsider!
Only kidding. She's a big fan, too.
All my best to ya, matey, and keep the Hoodoo-Wulfy-Devil stuff cummin'!
