Big Eyes, Small Mouth.

It has finally happened! Someone has created a Roleplaying system that accurately portrays the madness of Anime. In case you are wondering Anime is Japanese Animation (I hesitate to say cartoons) such as Akira, Battle Angel Alita, Sailor Moon, DragonBall Z and Neon Genesis Evangalion. For many years people have watched this unique style of animation and as a die hard role player I have tried many times to alter systems so that they have an anime feel to them. After many years of waiting the people at Guardians of Order have release a system called Big Eyes, Small mouth. Surprisingly it is a very simple system which manages to cover almost every aspect of Anime.

The Big Eyes Small Mouth system henceforth abbreviated to BESM was designed to be creative and flexible, the mechanics are simple and will create a fast moving action packed style of playing as are many of the anime episodes. The system describes everything, Magic Psionics, Mecha, Cyborgs, Cute Girls, Cars etc. They way everything is written is in a format where by speaking to a GM you can create other options or variations on existing powers, and for the benefit of the GM there is really no way a player can wrought the rules as the system is so open it will shock most players into creating interesting characters or become board as they have little else to do. Combat is fast and deadly as well as being colourful. The main point of this game however is to create situations as seen in anime episodes and to have you players run through them, any genre is possible from post-apocalyptic to high tech future to magic riddled worlds of the past.

This section of the site is devoted to the various anime games that I have run over the past year and a bit since the game showed up. Except for Demon City Tokyo 2000 which is located else where and described in greater detail the following sections detail several other games that I have run and one event which was fun to run, the event involved creating characters from existing anime series and placing them in a situation to see how they would react. The various characters used are listed below. Eventually I plan to translate many more anime people into BESM stats. Every character will generally be extensively researched as I have a very large anime collection.

Since the end of Last year Guardians of Order have produced the Second Edition of the game, it covers a more complete skills system as well as a system for creating magic and technology that are on the same scale. The game has now truely become a multi genre system, one that allows all elements to be mixed together in a balanced fashion. Since 2nd Ed. was relesed I ran another Anime Crossover game and as such the characters below where updated to the second edition stats and skills.
