of Han Solo, Lando Calrissian is a gambler and scoundrel who is finely
in tune with the finer things in life, and luck. He could win virtually
any prize offered in a sabacc game, and won a great many thus. Winning
ship after ship, Lando had great storehouses of vehicles in massive hangars.
But one day, when he and Han got in a heated sabacc game, Han emerged the
winner, and was awarded a choice of Lando's fleet. He chose a Corellian
stock light YT-1300 freighter that Lando had been heavily upgrading on
the side, much to Lando's surprise. Han named the ship the Millennium Falcon
and their exploits became legend. Later Lando would win the title of Baron-Administrator
of Bespin's Cloud City from Lord Ecclessius Figg in, surprise, a game of
sabacc. He retained the helm until one fateful day.
Darth Vader landed on the east platform in the company of the bounty hunter Boba Fett who predicted Solo would come to the city for Lando's help. Vader promised Calrissian to keep the Empire out of Bespin forever, and Lando agreed to betray his friend. Much to his later regret though.... Feeling terrible for what he did, Lando helped the Rebels escape, but Han was frozen in carbonite. Lando, now on the run from the Empire as well for helping aid the Rebel's escape from Bespin's Cloud City and the Empire, truly showed his allegiance with the Rebellion and his friendship to Han. Volunteering to help Princess Leia in any way he can to track down Han, Lando flew the Falcon, his old ship, inches over treetops, into the heart of Coruscant, and through massive space battles over the gleaming planet. Lando later would assist the Rebellion as a General and continued to help by destroying the second Death Star and following the Rebels on other missions. |
