Zack had discovered that the phone number was real, and was ready to listen
in on whatever conversation was held.

Soon, a dial tone could be heard.

"Hello? Lloyd?" a female voice asked.

"Lilith! You almost sounded like Lucy!" Lloyd's voice echoed.

Lilith's voice took on a sharp tone. "Don't mention her."

"I'm almost home, Ma," joked Lloyd.

"I'm not our mother. So, have you seen Carmen Sandiego yet?"

"Yes, I have. And I've done some research on today's Acme. You should see
who's taken Carmen's place. Lillie, it's like watching King Lear!"

"Oh, really? How so?"

"There's a war zone between them. Those two are like Goneril and Regan.
Asking them to work cooperatively is like asking Ma Barker and Lizzy Borden
to team up. So, where are we meeting? Manhattan subway?"

"Yes. When you reach the wall with four cracks, tap the brick on the ground,
and you're in."

"Until then," Lloyd replied.

"See you soon, dear brother."

Two clicks.

Zack stucks his head in the doorway. "Carmen! Ivy! We have a lead!" He then
added under his breath. "And an insult to boot."

Carmen and Ivy entered, flinching at each other. Zack explained the
conversation, leaving out Lloyd's comment.

Carmen nodded. "Lloyd Schweitzer had a sister named Lillie. I remember
interviewing her."

Ivy turned to them. "Let's sneak into Lloyd's hideout."

"But, Ivy!" Zack whined. "We'll stick out like a handful of sore thumbs."

"Disguise the limit," Carmen commented.

"Ivy? Will you hurry up?" Zack complained thirty minutes later. He, his
sister, and Carmen had gone to a costume shop.

Ivy stepped out from behind the changing screen. She was wearing a purple
minidress that reached her knees. She wore black nylons and lavender go-go
boots. On her short red hair was a violet floppy bow. "I look ridiculous."

"You're supposed to,"Zack replied. He looked down at his own outfit:leather
pants, white dress shirt, necktie, and black dinner jacket.

Ivy nudged him. "Ma would die if she saw you like that."

Carmen entered. "You two look like gangsters."

Ivy glared. "You look like a female spy from the movies."

It was true. Carmen was dressed in a red, sequined, floor-length gown with
red spike heels. Her long black hair was parted to the side."

Zack smirked. "Let's get dangerous."
