Step One: Concept and Inspiration

Background
Write as much as you can of your characters personality and background. A character will not be accepted without at least a half page background. This is the most important aspect of character generation, do not neglect it.


Step Two: Attributes

Prioritize the Attribute categories, using a 6, 4 or 3 and choose specific traits.

Physical Traits

Social Traits

Mental Traits



Step Three: Advantages and Disadvantages

Choose 5 Abilities. Ability Packages are available to create more fully developed characters.

Disadvantages
Character may take up to 5 points worth of Disadvantages to add to their Freebie Points at Character Generation.
Negative Traits are each worth 1. Derangements and Morality Reductions are worth 2.
Flaws have variable costs according to the Laws of Night - revised edition and The Long Night. (Many Super Natural or Cainite Society Flaws are restricted from mortals. As are Unbondable and Iron Will.)


Backgrounds
Choose 5 Background Traits from the areas listed below.
Mortals may have no more than 5 in any Background.
Influence is the only exception where they may have up to 10 total Influence Traits.

Allies (Each Ally must have a name. Identify the 1 Ability he or she possesses.)


Contacts
(Each Contact must have a name. Their Influence is considered "generic".)


Influence (Identify area(s) of Influence.)




Mentor
(Each Mentor must have a name and basic description.)


Resources (Resources can not be liquidated.)


Retainers (These are normal mortals with 3/4/6 Traits and 5 Abilities.)
Assign 10 Freebie Points (+1 per Disadvantage taken)

Additional Attribute Trait for 1 point.


Additional Ability for 1 point.


Background Trait for 1 point.


Additional Virtue Trait for 2 point.
This does not effect your starting Morality Traits.


Additional Morality Trait for 3 point.


Additional Willpower for 3 points.
(All characters start with two and max out at 5.)


Basic Numina power for 3 points.


Merits(Many Super Natural or Cainite Society Merits are restricted from mortals. As are Unbondable and Iron Will.)

Step Four: Last Touches



Assign 7 points to those Virtue Traits. According to your selected Morality Path.

Conscience/Conviction (Path of Humanity only, everyone starts with 1 for free)


Self-Control/Instincts (Path of Humanity only, everyone starts with 1 for free)


Courage
(everyone starts with 1)


Determine Morality Traits
(Conscience/Conviction + Self-Control/Instincts divide by 2 rounding up = Morality Traits)


Determine Willpower Traits
(All characters start with two and max out at 5.)
