Martial Arts

I am a warrior. This means that I am a protector. It is my responsibility to protect my friends and loved ones. Some people say that martial arts are only for self betterment. That's a lie. It is for defending oneself and those around them. Everywhere I go everyone is a little bit safer because I am there. Some people say that the martial arts are only for killing one's opponents. That's a lie. In practicing a martial art you begin to understand your own mortality and that of those around you. When you learn that you begin to understand that killing someone is the last resort. It must be remembered that it is a resort, but not a preferable choice. One learns respect for their teachers, for each other, and for life. One must learn that both of these elements must be taken into account when practicing any martial art. Two sides to every coin, they are opposite yet inseparable.
